Three Key West Employees Indicted
The corruption charges are the result of a joint investigation by the Monroe County State Attorneys Office and the Federal Bureau of Investigation
The Key West City Commission will meet in a special session on Monday, April 21 at 5 p.m. The meeting will be televised.
The special meeting is being held to discuss the futures of City Attorney Ron Ramsingh, his brother, Building Officer Raj and long-time Code Enforcement chief, Jim Young.
Raj and Young are on paid administrative leave as the investigation unfolds. They are under the purview of freshman City Manager Brian Barroso.
The City Attorney, however, serves at the pleasure of the City Commission.
Commissioners are expected to terminate his position at this meeting with one important caveat.
If he is terminated without cause, he will receive a golden parachute of approximately $150,000.
If terminated with cause, he will receive nothing.
Several commissioners are expected to move that he be fired with cause.
Meanwhile, it is business as usual for the City Attorney, who is apparently walking the halls and planning on attending the City’s employee picnic this afternoon.
